1 90-day residency. You or your spouse must have lived in Washington for at least 90 days before filing for dissolution.
2 90-day waiting period. Washington requires at least 90 days from the date of service before a dissolution decree can enter.
3 Financial disclosure required. Both parties must exchange financial declarations covering income, assets, and debts.
4 Parenting plan required if children. All Washington cases involving minor children require a parenting plan.
Washington says 'dissolution of marriage' not divorce, and uses 'parenting plan' and 'residential schedule' instead of custody and visitation. Washington is a community property state.
