What New Mexico requires — before you file

6-month residency. You or your spouse must have lived in New Mexico for at least 6 months before filing for dissolution.

No mandatory waiting period. New Mexico does not impose a waiting period for uncontested dissolution.

Financial disclosure required. Both parties must disclose income, assets, and debts.

Community property state. New Mexico is a community property state — most property acquired during marriage is split equally.
