1 90-day residency. You or your spouse must have lived in Illinois for at least 90 days before filing for dissolution.
2 No mandatory waiting period. Illinois eliminated its mandatory waiting period. Uncontested cases can move quickly.
3 Financial disclosure required. Both parties must exchange financial affidavits.
4 Parenting class may be required. Some Illinois counties require parents to complete a parenting education program.
Illinois says 'dissolution of marriage' not divorce, 'allocation of parental responsibilities' not custody, and 'parenting time' not visitation. We use Illinois language throughout.
