FL-180 - California Judicial Council

Judgment

The final court order ending your marriage or registered domestic partnership.

What this form does

FL-180 is the judgment — the document that legally ends the marriage. The judge signs it after reviewing the complete dissolution packet. It incorporates all orders: property division, custody, support, name changes. Once signed and entered, the marriage is over. The six-month waiting period must have passed from the date of service before this can be signed.

Who needs to file it

Prepared by the petitioner, signed by the judge.

When to file it

Submitted as part of the final judgment packet, no sooner than six months after the respondent was served.

What happens after you file

Once signed by the judge and entered by the clerk, both parties are legally single. FL-190 is then prepared to give notice.

Filing fee: No separate filing fee.
