Response — Marriage/Domestic Partnership
If your spouse filed for divorce, this is your formal written response to the court.
What this form does
FL-120 is how the respondent enters the dissolution case. You agree or disagree with what the petitioner is asking for — property division, custody, support, debts. Filing it preserves your right to be heard. If you do not file it within 30 days of being served, the petitioner can proceed without you and the court may grant everything they asked for.
Who needs to file it
The person who was served with divorce papers — the respondent.
When to file it
File within 30 days of being served with the FL-100 and FL-110.
What happens after you file
Your response is served on the petitioner. The case proceeds with both parties having entered their positions.
