Temporary Restraining Order
The court's emergency order protecting you while you wait for the full restraining order hearing.
What this form does
The DV-110 is issued by the court — you do not fill it out yourself. After a judge reviews your DV-100, if they grant emergency protection, they sign the DV-110. It orders the restrained person to stay away from you, your home, your children, your workplace. It is in effect immediately and remains so until the full hearing, typically within 21 days.
Who needs to file it
Issued by the court to the protected person after the judge grants emergency relief.
When to file it
You receive it after the judge reviews your DV-100 filing.
What happens after you file
You keep a copy. Law enforcement is notified. The restrained person is served. A full hearing is scheduled.
